Anatomy of a PageDepending on the theme your wiki is using, the different parts of your wiki may show up in different places. This will give you a general idea of what the parts of a page are, and where you can start to look for them.

Content Area

This is the part of your wiki page that is controlled by the Edit button. You can add images, text, and all kinds of other media. If you need help getting started, check out our video tours or take a quick look at the Editing a Page section of this help documentation.

Theme

The theme is everything on the page outside the content area — that is, all the stuff that stays the same when you’ve edited a page, and as you move from page to page within your wiki. You could think of this as a "skin" for your wiki.

Actions menu

  • Recent Changes
  • Manage Wiki
  • Search: Search for a word or phrase in the current wiki. The search will return any page, discussion post, or file that uses the search term.

Navigation bar

Your default navigation bar contains a Page List widget that lists the first ten pages of your wiki in alphabetical order. If you decide that you want to arrange it differently, you can click the Edit Navigation link and delete the blue Page List widget. Then you can edit the navigation bar just like you would edit a wiki page to add links and explanatory text. If you need assistance, our video tours will show you how to edit a page.

If you want to get your default navigation back, click the widget tool in the editor bar (it looks like a little TV) then click Wikispaces, then List of Wiki Pages.
